H.N.D in Port and Shipping Management

Introduction

Global trends in production, trade and transport have created the need for specialist training of skill workers to fill important gaps that have emerged in the ports and shipping industry for example; terminal management and ship management. The HND program in Ports and Shipping Management is collaboration between the Advanced Institute of Maritime Studies (AIMS) and Higher Institute for Professional Development and Training (HIPDET) to meet this need.

Industry Focus

Ports and Shipping activities are fast growing in the West and Central Africa sub-region with the building of new ports and the expansion of old ports and skill workers are required for these specialized areas which would even increase with the take-off of the eminent African Continent Free Trade Zone due to the construction and development of coastal ports and terminals. Students will be provided expert training in the management of a port and a ship as well as procedures that form part of the day-to-day operations.

Entry Requirement

At least GCE “A” level with a pass in at least 2 subjects, BACC or any Equivalent
