V.D in Ship Operation and Management

Coastal Shipping controls the seaward side of the international maritime business with the Central and West Africa sub-region. It is responsible for carrying over 90% of short sea trade and employs thousands of people around the sub-region in various roles, from ship and terminal operation management to finance, law, insurance, ship broking and ship agency services. The program will provide a thorough knowledge and understanding of coastal vessel management which are vital for the effective operations and uninterrupted flow of an international short sea supply chain. Effective management in the different areas of maritime operation is examined while keeping in line with the changing shipping field.

This program exposes students to the development in the coastal shipping industry and offers a broad view of ship management business, challenges and opportunities posed to the coastal ship operations and management practitioners.

Basic French Knowledge, Basic English Knowledge, Professional Life, Entrepreneurship Introduction to Ship, Ship Operation, Ship Commercial, Marine Insurance, Sea Containers, Maritime law, Ship Marketing, Ship Finance, Cost Accounting and Budgeting, Cargo Handling, IMO Conventions, Ship Registration, Maritime Transport Economics, Legal Status of Ship Manager, Information Literacy Education, and Internship.

At least GCE “A” level with a pass in at least 2 subjects, BACC or any Equivalent
